The inaugural SSE Women’s Invitational, held yesterday at the magnificent Stoke Park Golf Club, was a resounding success with 85 delegates from 26 different companies taking part in the first instalment, created to give female business executives the chance to mix business and golf.
More than a traditional corporate day or round of golf, beginners to the game took part in various instructional clinics while season campaigners enjoyed nine holes on the famed Stoke Park layout in a team stableford format.
Ladies European Tour legend, Dame Laura Davies, and recent Solheim Cup star, Mel Reid, joined up with guests in the afternoon, taking part in a Q&Abefore the ever-talented ‘Golf Trick Shot Boys’ ensured entertainment all round with their act including all kinds of whacky trick shots to amaze the crowd.
In an action-packed day off the course, Claire McDonnell from the BBC hosted a panel discussion of six leading business figures including Giles Morgan, Global Head of Sponsorship & Events at HSBC, Liz Fraser, writer & broadcaster and Stephanie Zinser, CFO / Owner at Lynx Golf.
Matthew Syed, a leading journalist for the Times and author of the award winning book, Bounce, completed the line-up and was on hand to discuss how to create a resilient, growth orientated culture, and the distinctive psychology of successful individuals.
